Lady Capulet's importance to the play is incredible. Without Lady Capulet, there would not be a scene where they introduce the possibility of marriage to Juliet. If Lady Capulet wasn't in the play then Juliet wouldn't have a mother. Without a mother there wouldn't be the scene where the idea of marriage was announced, or when Juliet begs her mother and father not to make her marry Paris. Lady Capulet displays true hatred towards the Montagues. She is the one character that shows the most hatred towards Romeo for killing Tybalt, and the most mourning for the death of Tybalt. Without her knowledge of the marriage, Lady Capulet persuades Paris to give Romeo the death sentence. She is a mother that never really gets intimately involved with her daughter's life. Without Lady Capulet being so distant, Juliet wouldn't have the close relationship with the Nurse that she does. She helps the audience understand how tragic it was for the Capulet family to lose their beloved Tybalt.
